5 DELICIOUS HOMEMADE HOT CHOCOLATE TOPPINGS
When you have hot chocolate you can not dismiss the topping. The topping is just as important and that is why I’m going to share with you 5 different ways to pimp up your homemade hot chocolate, to keep everyone happy and give you a different choice each time you sip on this velvety creamy chocolatey chocolate drink.
CANDY CANE CINNAMON STICK HOT CHOCOLATE
My girls love this one and always want this every night around Christmas when we always have a stash of candy canes. The taste of peppermint and cinnamon mingled with your chocolatey chocolate drink not only makes the air smell Christmassy but your insides warm and merry (“,)
This is a great Christmas eve drink and really fun for kids to do.
If you make this hot chocolate for your guests, trust me they will be impressed. Especially when they start using their cinnamon stick as a straw lol
Watch the video below to see how quick and simple they really are to make.
MARSHMELLOW SNOWMAN HOT CHOCOLATE
My girls love it when I surprise them with a snowman face on top of their hot chocolate. No matter how many times I make it for them they always get excited.
It is really cute. Little marshmallow eyes, an orange smarty for its carrot nose (or an orange tic tac if I have them) and chocolate chips for its mouth all floating on a sea of whipped cream.
They love it just as much if they get to make their own snowman faces too. If you do let your kids design their own snowman make sure they do it all in one go. Don’t leave them to add parts of the face go of and play then come back to finish the rest because all the bits will end up melting from the heat of the hot chocolate.
THE BEST HOT CHOCOLATE & IT’S WOOLY HAT
My favourite way to drink my velvety homemade chocolatey hotchocolate is with lashings and lashings of whipped cream, sprayed up into a peak like a woolly hat to keep my hot cholate warm and my taste buds happy lol
Then I top my creamy woolly hat with a few shavings of chocolate snow and I enjoy every single ounce.
The only bit I leave is the bit that gets on my nose (“,)
SALTED CARAMEL HOT CHOCOLATE
I gave this one a go because when I go to Starbucks which is very rare because I aint been in over 5 years and only go with people who love coffee, I don’t like coffee. Well when I’ve been to Starbucks in the past my friends would get their coffee topped with cream and caramel. So I had to give it a go because you know, who doesn’t love cream and who doesn’t love caramel? I would ask for a cup full of cream drizzled with caramel. HA HA HA HA HA….
You must think I’m crazy right? It was either that or me nicking whoever I was with topping or worse paying £4 for a coffee just to eat the cream and caramel and leave the coffee. No! I don’t think so! he he….
I had a jar of my salted caramel, which is fabulouso by the way. If you want to give it a go click here for the recipe.
I knew this was going to work because I’ve had many paper Starbucks cups crammed with conspicuous amounts of cream and caramel. But….. I wasn’t expecting just how beautiful!
The salty caramel works harmoniously with the sweet chocolate taking your drink to next level satisfaction. Try it. Then you will know what I mean. Then come back and let me know what you think in the comments below (“,)
JUMBO MARSHMALLOW HOT CHOCOLATE
When I tinkered around with marshmallows and came up with the perfect recipe, click her for the fluffiest marshmallows ever. I knew I had to try them with hot chocolate.
The thing is, I don’t really like marshmallows, they just don’t tickle my fancy. They taste artificial like airy foam. But these marshmallows are soft, fluffy and bouncy, and if you toast them first….Oh my! The char from the flames takes the sweetness just over the edge of bitterness which balance perfectly with the hot chocolate’s sweetness. And there you have a great drink (“,)
