I’m sure you know how healthy smoothies are. Most shops stock them and everyone has their own version they like to brag about. So now it’s my time to put my top 3 healthy smoothies in the lime light.
My Ideal Healthy Smoothie
I love smoothies! Green ones, brown ones, red ones, any coloured ones! I’m not fussed. It just has to be COLD! FRUITY! Full of NUTRIENTS and jam packed full of FLAVOUR! Then I’m a happy bunny.
How I Drink My Healthy Smoothie
I drink my healthy smoothie as a meal replacement sometimes in the summer when my appetite isn’t as big, I just add either 1/2 an avocado or a spoon of extra virgin coconut oil for some extra good fat. These ingredients don’t change the taste at all, they just add extra creaminess and nutrients.
I love to have one before I work out. I add 1/2 cup of oats to my smoothie of choice for an extra energy boost so I can push that extra bit harder.
If I don’t have a smoothie before I work out, I have one after and sprinkle some chia seeds on top for extra protein, omega 3s and crunch.
Another thing I like to do is make a smoothie bowl. I pour my smoothie into a bowl and sprinkle some of my homemade ultimate granola on top and dig in. It’s so delicious and the crunch and texture from the granola takes these smoothies to the next level. Plus you also get the added nutrients from all the nuts and seeds.
I thought I’d share the love and let you in on my top 3 smoothies. They will convert you into a smoothie drinking lover after one sip because they’re jammed packed full of fruity flavour (“,)
My Top 3 healthy Smoothies
Tropical Green Smoothie
The 1st one is my post workout drink and a family favourite.
My kids love it and my youngest has been drinking it since she was 1, you can easily get 4 of your 5 portions of fruit and veg a day and it is an easy way to get kids to have spinach. it’s also great because there’s no added sugar, just naturally occurring ones.
It has spinach for muscle growth and strength.
Coconut water for hydration which also helps re-balance electrolytes lost when sweating.
Banana for muscle recovery and potassium.
Mango and pineapple also for muscle recovery.
Some lime to cut the richness of the fruit, bring out their flavours and add a bit of zing!
Some mint for freshness.
Blueberry and Cinnamon Smoothie
It is jam packed full of fruity blueberryness and spiked with some cinnamon for a slight hint of fragrant heat which contrasts well with the coolness of the smoothie.
It has loads of blueberries which are overflowing with antioxidants.
Spinach for muscle growth and strength.
Coconut water for hydration and also helps rebalance electrolytes lost when sweating.
Banana for muscle recovery and potassium.
Cinnamon which is a great anti-inflammatory.
Summer Smoothie
My last smoothie isn’t a green smoothie but it is still over-flowing with nutrients and a great drink to have when you are craving something sweet. This smoothie will satisfy any sweet cravings, it’s my “Summer Smoothie”.
I’ve named it Summer smoothie because I feel it captures the tastes of summer in a glass.
Watermelon is the base and being 92% water it not only hydrates but helps keep hair and skin moistourised from the inside with its vitamin A.
Strawberries are the epitome of summer and marry well with the watermelon, keeping your skin from sagging and hair and nails strong.
I add some mint to freshen up all the flavours.
Then a splash of rose water unites all the flavours, and as you sip you get lost in it’s perfumey flower fragrance taking you back to long summer evening walks past beautiful rose bushes.

ggmix TIPS
- Use frozen fruit to get a creamy icecreamy texture
- Measure out all your portions and place them in a sandwhich bag and put them into the freezer so when you need a drink and want to save time just get your bag of fruit and veg out of the freezer and pour it into your blender and blitz super duper quick
