Hi, I’m Dimitra — the creator behind ggmix.
I’m a Greek Cypriot girl born and raised in London, and I create flavour-led recipes inspired by the foods, memories, and people that have shaped me most: Greek Cypriot food, Ghanaian food, and nostalgic British desserts.
Much of my cooking is rooted in the flavours of Cyprus — the dishes I grew up with, the memories they hold, and the balance of lemon, olive oil, herbs, warmth, and comfort that still guides the way I cook today.
Alongside that, I also share Ghanaian-inspired recipes, influenced by my husband and the vibrant flavours and dishes that have become part of our family life. And then there are the nostalgic British desserts — the cakes, puddings, and sweet treats that take me straight back to childhood.
What ggmix means
If you’ve ever wondered what ggmix stands for, it’s Greek Ghana Mix — myself being the Greek, my husband the Ghana, and my girls the Mix. The name actually came from my oldest daughter, who used to say she was “Greek Ghana” when she was little.
My flavour-led approach
At the heart of ggmix is one simple idea: it’s all about the flavour.
For me, that means balancing sweetness, sourness, saltiness, bitterness, umami, texture, warmth, and freshness to create food that feels complete, comforting, and full of life. I love bringing opposites together — creamy with crunchy, bright with rich, warming with cooling — because that is often what makes a dish unforgettable.

I’m also a mum to three big-haired curly girls, wife to my best friend, and someone who will always believe that when food tastes good, you go back for more — because it always comes down to one thing:
