We have gone on another road trip,
This time we ventured out to Devon.
We chose to go to Devon because the girls really love dinosaurs and thought the Jurassic Coast would be a perfect hands on learning experience.
We have been to Devon before and stayed at Haven Devon Cliffs caravan park which we really enjoyed last time so we chose to stay there again because we know the accommodations are clean and the park has lots of activities to do as a family plus it’s near the Jurassic Coast so it’s a win win (“,)
We stayed in a 2 bedroom deluxe caravan that was decked with nice garden furniture that we enjoyed eating out on.We had a big enough fridge and freezer, an oven, grill, hob and microwave and lots of cutlery and utensils. There was a table and seating area plus a big enough corner sofa for about 7 people. We had a tv with an inbuilt dvd player, so don’t forget to bring your dvds (“,). We also had an electric fire place and each room had central heating, so if it’s cold at least you know you are going to be warm. The bathroom was clean and had a stand up shower with a shower screen which stopped the water going everywhere. The room with the double bed was really spacious with adequate storage but the room with the single beds was really small but also had storage. Check the video below to see a true view of the whole caravan.
The beach at Haven called Devon Cliffs was nice. It is ok walking down to the beach but a little hard on the way back as it’s pretty steep. The sand there was ok but the sea was freezing cold even though it was over 30’c when we were there.
We also ventured out to a few other beaches away from the complex. We went to Budleigh Salterton which was about 15 minutes away by car. The beach is very rocky and pebbly so you can’t make sandcastles but the girls still had fun collecting rocks and skimming them into the sea. Oh yeah and the water was still freezing cold (“,)
We also went to Lyme Regis which was 50 minutes away by car through lots of windy country roads. The beach was also covered in rocks but that’s why we were there, to find fossils! We were lucky enough to find 2 anemones and a rock with crystals inside it. Check the video below to see how and what we found (“,)
There are a lot of activities to do in Haven that are free and some you have to pay for. They have an indoor and an outdoor pool with slides that’s free, a few parks jotted all over the park that are well maintained and activates in the mornings, afternoons and evening for the whole family to enjoy. They also have an arcade that you pay to play games on and win tickets which you save and at the end you take them to the shop and get a prize. We also paid to play mini golf which was really fun and the golf course was in really good condition.
On site they have a reasonably priced supermarket but there is also a Lidl and Tesco 5 minutes away by car if you want a bit more variety.
There is also a fish and chips shop, Papa Johns Pizza, Burger King, A pub and a seafood restaurant which is by the beach if you would like to eat out.
