Do you know how easy honeycomb is to make?
When I found out a few months ago I was very impressed.
Not only that but its only 2 ingredients, well 3 if you count the water,
And it doesn’t take that long either.
You boil the sugar and water until its a deep, dark golden colour, add the bicarbonate of soda whisk for a few seconds, then pour it out onto your baking paper and leave for about 30 minutes to cool and harden.
It’s that simple (“,)
Honey comb tastes great dipped into melted dark chocolate, the bitterness and smoothness of the chocolate balances perfectly with the sweet crunchiness of the honeycomb, and so does salted caramel.
Whatever way you like to eat your honeycomb there is always going to be one guarantee,
Your teeth WILL stick together (“,)
Ingredients
- 450g sugar
- 120ml water
- 1 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda
- Pan
- Whisk
- Teaspoon
- Baking Paper
Instructions
- Set out all your ingredients and equipment near by be cause you have to work quick
- Add sugar and water to a pan and bring to the boil on a high heat
- When it starts boiling turn the heat right down and leave it to simmer until the sugar becomes a dark, golden brown colour (watch the video below to see the actual colour)
- If you see any sugar crystals on the sides of you pan use a pastry brush dipped in water to melt them, because if you leave them to drop into your sugar syrup the will make your honeycomb taste burnt and have hard lumpy bits in it too.
- When you sugar syrup is a deep, dark golden brown colour take it off of the heat and add your bicarbonate of soda, it will start bubbling really fast whisk it quickly for about 10 seconds then pour it onto your baking paper and leave to cool and harden for around 30 minutes.
- A fun way to break it up is to pick it up and smash it on your work surface (",)
- Eat them on their own, dipped in dark chocolare or salted caramel or serve it on top of my salted caramel profiterole dessert (",)
